During the BIG3’s inaugural season, Allen Iverson promised to join the league, but fans saw little of him during the year. Jahlil Okafor inks deal with the Pelicans

Free-agent big-man Jahlil Okafor has reportedly agreed to a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnaroski. A league source also informed Wojnarowski that the deal Okafor signed is partially guaranteed and includes a team option for the 2019-2020 season.

Rookie Zhaire Smith suffered foot injury during development camp

According to multiple reports, Philadelphia 76ers’ rookie Zhaire Smith suffered a serious foot injury on Monday and is currently being transferred to Philadelphia where the team will further assess the extent of his injury.

The injury occurred during Tim Grgurich’s development camp in Las Vegas on Monday. Some reports are now surfacing stating that the injury suffered was only an ankle sprain, while the team hasn’t officially stated what the injury was.

Zhaire Smith averaged 11.3 points and five rebounds per game during his freshman season at Texas Tech.

Update: Team officials have announced that the injury Smith sustained was a fractured foot. Their is no timetable currently set for his return.

Greg Monroe inks deal with the Raptors

Center Greg Monroe has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Toronto Raptors per Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.

Monroe originally started last season with the Bucks, but was traded to the Suns with draft picks in order to acquire Eric Bledsoe. Phoenix bought him out mid-season and the veteran decided to sign with the Celtics in February.  

The veteran big-man can provide the Raptors with leadership and depth off the bench, similar to the role he played last season with the Celtics. Last season, Monroe averaged 10.3 points and 6.9 rebounds while shooting a career-high 56.5 percent from the floor.
