According to multiple reports, Philadelphia 76ers’ rookie Zhaire Smith suffered a serious foot injury on Monday and is currently being transferred to Philadelphia where the team will further assess the extent of his injury.

The injury occurred during Tim Grgurich’s development camp in Las Vegas on Monday. Some reports are now surfacing stating that the injury suffered was only an ankle sprain, while the team hasn’t officially stated what the injury was.

Zhaire Smith averaged 11.3 points and five rebounds per game during his freshman season at Texas Tech.

Zhaire Smith was drafted 16th overall by the Phoenix Suns during the 2018 NBA Draft, but was later traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. As more news becomes available, we will continue to update this post to give you the best information possible regarding this situation.

 

Update: Team officials have announced that the injury Smith sustained was a fractured foot. Their is no timetable currently set for his return.
