Going into the first game of their round 1 matchup, the Brooklyn Nets weren’t expected to come out and steal a game from the three-seeded Philadelphia 76ers, but that’s exactly what they did.
Brooklyn came out and took care of business on Saturday as they defeated the 76ers by a score of 111-102. D’Angelo Russell scored 26 points, grabbed three rebounds, and dished out four assists while teammates Caris LeVert and Spencer Dinwiddie had big games as well, scoring 23 and 18 respectively.
Philadelphia’s Jimmy Butler would not go out without a fight, scoring 36 points and grabbing nine boards. Superstar big-man Joel Embiid also had a nice game, one in which the 76ers’ crowd witnessed him drop 22 points, grab 15 rebounds, and dish out four assists. Even though several of their stars played well, Philadelphia still struggled to deal with the explosive drives and lightning quick offense of the Nets, which resulted in Philly losing the opening game of the series on their home floor.
