Report: Jimmy Butler garnering interest from Houston Rockets

According to multiple reports, free agent superstar Jimmy Butler is garnering interest from the Houston Rockets and is expected to be “aggressively” pursued by the organization during the NBA’s free agency period. After being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers just before the mid-season deadline, Butler averaged 18.2 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game, and 4.0 assists per game while shooting about 46.1% percent from the field. If Butler decides not to rejoin the 76ers on a new contract, the Rockets could be a viable option for the 29-year-old. While their is no word yet on what a potential deal could look like, Rockets’ GM Daryl Morey has been very vocal about his goal to acquire another superstar, which he believes will help get the Rockets over the Western Conference Finals-hump.

Reports: Jimmy Butler trade talks involving the Miami Heat have fallen apart

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, trade talks between the Timberwolves and the Heat involving superstar Jimmy Butler have fallen apart.

Talks between the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves were reportedly “heating up” to the point where Butler’s medical information was shared with Miami’s front office. The two teams were reportedly preparing to finalize a trade deal, but after thinking it over, Minnesota’s management pushed to receive more in the trade and Miami backed out of the deal.

According to reports released throughout the past several weeks, teams around the league believe that the asking price Minnesota has told them may be to high. While speculation continues to fly around the league, Minnesota’s owner reportedly has informed his front office that despite this trade falling through, their goal should remain the same: find a trade for Jimmy Butler.

Report: Jimmy Butler is “fed up” with young Timberwolves players

Minnesota Timberwolves’ star, Jimmy Butler, has reportedly become “fed up” with the team’s young players and, more specifically, Karl-Anthony Towns.

The report stated above was released by Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times and states that Butler has no intentions of signing a long-term contract extension. According to the report, Butler still feels unsure about signing a potential extension deal which the Timberwolves are expected to offer him.

The relationship Karl-Anthony Towns and Jimmy Butler formed while pushing the Timberwolves to a short-lived playoff run seems to have been destroyed as Butler feels as though Towns’ attitude is too “non-chalant.” The broken relationship between the two might be the reason that an eventual breakup happens, while reports have already surfaced that Butler and Kyrie Irving would like to team up together in the East.

Last season, Butler averaged 22.2 points and 4.9 assists while shooting 47% from the floor wearing a Timberwolves’ jersey. The Timberwolves would have a huge loss in production if they end up losing Butler, which would severally hurt their chances of making the playoffs in the future.

The Timberwolves will likely try to talk to both Karl-Anthony Towns and Jimmy Butler to attempt to repair a damaged relationship in hopes of keeping their core together.
