Grizzlies’ Jaren Jackson Jr. suffers injury, out indefinitely

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, emerging Grizzlies’ star Jaren Jackson Jr. has suffered a right quad injury, per league sources.

The emerging franchise cornerstone was blossoming into a successful player with the Grizzlies averaging 13.8 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game and 1.4 blocks per game through 58 games.

With the Grizzlies playoff chances very slim, the organization will likely handle their young star with extreme caution. Currently, Jackson Jr. is listed as “out indefinitely” and the team has not released a statement further regarding the injury.

The Mike Conley Report: the latest buzz about the Grizzlies’ star point guard

For several days now, the Memphis Grizzlies have made it widely known that franchise cornerstone Mike Conley is on the trade block. Many teams have reportedly contacted the Grizzlies about acquiring Conley, but every trade has fallen through thus far. So to clear up the hazy rumors around the situation, we have compiled everything you need to know about Mike Conley and where he might land.

According to several reports, the Indiana Pacers have made multiple calls to the Grizzlies about acquiring Conley, but nothing has been set in stone at this time. If Conley was to land somewhere, Indy looks like the front runner in the battle for the star point guard.

The Utah Jazz have also reportedly contacted the Grizzlies about acquiring Conley and did give them an offer: 1 first-round pick, 1 second-round pick, expiring contracts, and possibly cash in exchange for Conley. The Grizzlies also reportedly asked about acquiring Exum, but were immediately told no. Another report surfaced late Wednesday saying Conley was reluctant to go to Utah.

According to several reports, The Toronto Raptors contacted the Grizzlies about acquiring Conley, but thought the asking price was to high. Early indications also suggest Indy thought the asking price was to high as well, but continued to work towards a deal.

According to Brian Windhorst, Conley made it very clear he wanted no part in being traded to a team in the Western Conference, which would make the Jazz a no-go for him.

Rumors have been flying around NBA circles for several days now, some of which involve the Raptors moving point guard Kyle Lowry in either a straight-up trade or a three-team trade involving someone like the Jazz. As for where Conley will end up before the trade deadline, only time will tell, but one thing is for sure. Conley is being viewed in NBA circles as a hot commodity.

Clippers defeat Grizzlies 112-107 in Overtime

Late Friday night, the Clippers defeated the Grizzlies 112-107 in overtime during a western-conference duel.

Game Recap:

During the first quarter, both teams traded made baskets and the game was seemingly looking to be a good one down the stretch. Going into the locker room at the half , the Grizzlies led 52-44 thanks to a strong push during the second quarter in which the Grizzlies went on a 13-5 run during the last 3:41 of the half.

The third quarter belonged to the Clippers and gave them the chance to get back in the game. The team shot very well and outscored the Grizzlies 31-18 to give them the 75-70 advantage going into the final period of play. The Grizzlies were, however, able to muster enough strength to fight their way back into the game and chipped away at the Clippers’ lead. They eventually regained the lead and led by three with 3.0 seconds left on the clock. Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, Marc Gasol fouled Danilo Gallinari at the three-point line and gave the Clippers a chance to send the game to overtime. Gallinari ended up making all three of the free throws and sending the game to overtime where the Clippers would eventually use the newly-gained momentum to defeat the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies were without Mike Conley during overtime because he fouled out late in the fourth quarter.
