For several days now, the Memphis Grizzlies have made it widely known that franchise cornerstone Mike Conley is on the trade block. Many teams have reportedly contacted the Grizzlies about acquiring Conley, but every trade has fallen through thus far. So to clear up the hazy rumors around the situation, we have compiled everything you need to know about Mike Conley and where he might land.
According to several reports, the Indiana Pacers have made multiple calls to the Grizzlies about acquiring Conley, but nothing has been set in stone at this time. If Conley was to land somewhere, Indy looks like the front runner in the battle for the star point guard.
The Utah Jazz have also reportedly contacted the Grizzlies about acquiring Conley and did give them an offer: 1 first-round pick, 1 second-round pick, expiring contracts, and possibly cash in exchange for Conley. The Grizzlies also reportedly asked about acquiring Exum, but were immediately told no. Another report surfaced late Wednesday saying Conley was reluctant to go to Utah.
According to several reports, The Toronto Raptors contacted the Grizzlies about acquiring Conley, but thought the asking price was to high. Early indications also suggest Indy thought the asking price was to high as well, but continued to work towards a deal.
According to Brian Windhorst, Conley made it very clear he wanted no part in being traded to a team in the Western Conference, which would make the Jazz a no-go for him.
Rumors have been flying around NBA circles for several days now, some of which involve the Raptors moving point guard Kyle Lowry in either a straight-up trade or a three-team trade involving someone like the Jazz. As for where Conley will end up before the trade deadline, only time will tell, but one thing is for sure. Conley is being viewed in NBA circles as a hot commodity.
